WISCONSIN AND PROVIDENCE TO MEET FOR KWIK TRIP HOLIDAY FACE-OFF TITLE

MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin and Providence advanced to play for the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off championship.
In the first semifinal, Jamie Engelbert registered his first career hat trick in leading No. 16 Providence to a 6-2 win over Bowling Green in the first semifinal of the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at Fiserv Forum.
The Friars improved to 15-7 while the Falcons fell to 8-8-3.
The scoring began early and often as Providence took a 1-0 lead just 1:26 on Chase Yoder’s goal. It became 2-0 at 10:11 with a goal by Kohen Olischefski. At that point, Bowling Green took over. Taylor Schneider’s power play goal halved the lead at 11:59 and Alex Barber evened the score at 14:56.
Providence took the lead for good with the second period’s only goal, the first of Engelbert’s three at 16:43.The Friars dominated the third period with Engelbert scoring twice and Patrick Moynihan netting the final goal.
The Falcons outshot the Friars, 34-25.
In the nightcap, Brock Caufield’s overtime goal 2:02 into overtime gave Wisconsin and 3-2 win over Yale.
Wisconsin, which moves to 6-12-1, took a 2-0 lead with a first period goal by Zach Urdahl and a second period goal by Mathieu De St. Phalle. However, Yale responded with two third period goals within 4:36 to tie the game. Teddy Wooding had the first goal at 8:25 with Henry Wagner adding the tying goal at 13:01.
The Badgers outshot Yale (3-8-0) 24-21.
Wisconsin will take on No. 16 Providence for the title, beginning at 7:30pm (CT). The consolation game between Yale and Bowling Green commences at 4:00pm (CT).
